The tall Pine tree stands as a signpost at the start of a new year, guiding and protecting, aloof above the distractions of mundane life. Small groups of Scots Pines (the only native evergreen conifer) were planted as "sighting points" on hills and mounds along ley lines to guide our ancestors on their travels.
